Lasanood | March 28, 2023 – Traditional elders who left Mogadishu and arrived in Lasanood , the capital of Sool region on Monday have commenced efforts to resolve the conflict between the Somaliland forces and the armed forces of SSC.
The elders, led by Mohamud Ali Ugas, visited some of the buildings that were destroyed by artillery fire exchange in Las-Aanod anood, including the education facilities and the main hospital in Lasanood .
The peace convey of traditional elders held meetings with the SSC Cultural Association, discussing how to stop the conflict in Lasaanood town in which close to 200 people are estimated to have died as the conflict enters second month.
The traditional elders who left Mogadishu planned to meet with the other side of the Somaliland leaders and go to Hargeisa, but reports say that the Somaliland side rejected the talks effort and put a series of conditions.
Although the situation in the town is calm, tension still remains high because the fighting parties are still armed facing each other ready for anything.
