157 Somali Refugees Return Home from Yemen As Somali Embassy and UNHCR Facilitate Repatriation

In a coordinated humanitarian effort, the Somalia Embassy in Yemen, with the support of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), successfully repatriated 157 Somali refugees from Aden.

The group, which included men, women, and children, had been stranded in Yemen under challenging life and health conditions.

This repatriation operation aimed to address the dire circumstances faced by these vulnerable individuals, many of whom had endured hardship during their time in Yemen. The refugees were sent back to Somalia on a boat, with Somali Embassy officials overseeing the operation as the vessel departed from Aden’s port.

The collaborative effort between the Somalia Embassy and international partners, including UNHCR, highlights ongoing commitments to safeguard Somali nationals abroad and ensure their safe return home. This operation is part of broader efforts to respond to the plight of displaced populations affected by conflict and instability in the region.
