Mogadishu – The Council of Ministers of the Federal Republic of Somalia has approved the audit of government agencies for the 2023 financial year. The decision was made during the council’s weekly meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre. The audit report details the processes and procedures undertaken to ensure transparency and accountability within government institutions.
Additionally, the council ratified a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Fisheries and the Blue Economy and the Abu Dhabi Ports Group. This agreement aims to bolster cooperation and development in Somalia’s maritime sector.
The meeting also addressed recent security concerns. The Minister of State for the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change presented a report on the conflict in Luuq District earlier this month. The central government, with support from the Jubbaland regional government, successfully brokered a ceasefire and initiated dialogue to resolve the conflict.
Reports from the Ministries of Internal Security and Defense highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance national security and combat terrorist groups. The council commended the Somali National Army for its achievements in eliminating terrorist threats and maintaining peace in various regions.
