Wanlaweyn district in Somalia has been shaken by a devastating incident involving the loss of two lives. A man, whose identity remains undisclosed, fatally shot his ex-wife, Seynab Hussein Omar, with an AK47 gun. The couple had four children together, compounding the tragedy of their untimely demise.
Wanlaweyn District Deputy Commissioner of Social Affairs, Ismail Haji Mukhtaar Gacmadheere, shed light on the harrowing ordeal, revealing that the assailant met his end at the hands of district security forces. Despite efforts to apprehend him alive, the individual resisted arrest, brandishing the same firearm used in the fatal shooting. In the ensuing confrontation, the security forces were compelled to take decisive action, resulting in the death of the perpetrator.
“The man who killed his ex-wife was killed by the security forces who were supporting the family . Attempts were made to arrest him alive but he was carrying the gun that killed him and he fought back and the security forces killed him. The army carried out a necessary operation,” explained Ismail Haji Mukhtar Gacmadhere, Deputy Chairman of Social Affairs in Wanlaweyn district.
The tragic incident has sent shockwaves throughout the district, leaving its residents grappling with the profound loss suffered by the children who have been orphaned in the wake of the violence.
