Muqdisho | September 08, 2021:-The former governor of Benadir region and the mayor of Mogadishu said that the content of the directive issued by President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo yesterday assigning embattled NISA boss Fahad Yassin a new security role was to prevent the investigation into the of Ikraan Tahliil Farah, a NISA officer.

In a statement, Taabid Abdi Mohamed said the presidency was opposed to an independent investigation into the Ikraan Tahlil case, blocking a clear focus on the rule of law, the judiciary and justice.

Taabid Abdi also pointed out that the move by the President is likely to disrupt the country’s elections and the agreements achieved with Prime Minister Roble, and the overall political stability of the country.

The former governor of Benadir region and mayor of Mogadishu said anyone who directly or indirectly obstructs the country’s judicial system and elections will take responsibility for the consequences.

“The gist of Villa Somalia’s message is an attempt to thwart an independent investigation into the Ikraan Tahlil case by blatantly violating the rule of law, the judiciary and justice, and is a violation of the rights of Somali citizens. No one of good conscience who cares for the country’s interest and the people can accept such actions ”said Tabid Abdi Mohamed.

The case of Ikraan Tahliil Farah has sparked a rift between outgoing President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble, with the rift escalating to a new low after Farmaajo reinstated embattled NISA boss Fahad Yassin who is adversely mentioned in the case involving the death of the Female intelligence official.

Prime Minister relieved Yassin of duties after disregarding his(Roble’s) directive on multiple occasions. Farmaajo ‘reinstated ‘ Yassin before naming him in a new assignment as national security advisor to the president.

The Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble accused the president of obstructing justice for Ikraan Tahliil and preventing the same. He cautioned him against the move that’s likely to disrupt peace.
