Mogadishu | QOL | December 19, 2018 –The lawmakers of Southwest state assembly voted unanimously to elect Abdiaziz Lafta Gareen as new president during an election held on Wednesday in Baidoa city.
Lafta Gareen won 103 votes against his closest contender Aden Saransor who garnered 22 votes, according to the electoral commision of Southwest State.
Five candidates, including Lafta Garen have contested for the leadership of Southwest state. The election took place amid tight security in the city with troops blocked the roads.
