Muqdisho | QOL | April 28, 2018 – Mohamed Omar Moalim, the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Relief and Disaster management of the Federal Republic of Somalia told that they will hold a meeting today to discuss on how to give support and aid to those displaced by the floods.
He said that the meeting will be attended by the heads of NGOs, businessmen, scholars and some of thecivil society.
The meeting will take place at the Office of the Prime Minister, and will be discussed in particular on how to get emergency response to the displaced people.
Secretary-General Mohamed said that it is not a good thing about the forecast, as it is said that
continual rainfall is expected in Somalia, particularly in the areas where the floods are being reported.
The ministry said it had called on aid agencies, businesses, and individuals to help with the process. While the Scholars would be requested to urge and mobilize the wealthy people to take part in the ministry’s plan.
Nearly a million people have been displaced from the Shabelle and Juba river floods in some of the areas the rivers pass and there are still others fleeing from their areas in fear of the floods reaching them.
