Government Progress Activities in the past week

Mogadishu, 17 July 2016 – Hon. Mohamed Abdi Hayir (Maareeye) briefed the development activities of the Government in past week.

The Minister has highlighted the main activities including the police officers completed training courses and graduated, the Somali security forces (SNA) accomplished training in Kismayo, National Security Policy gaining momentum to finalise, the Somali Marine and Coast guards bill reviewed, Somali National Army squalled the Al-Shaabab base in Goobaanle, the Government launched the informal education Program, at the same time, the Development projects implemented in Waljirow while a new Tiirow Hospital opened at Baidoa.

The Somali police officers completed training courses and graduated

The President of Somali Federal Republic H.E Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has presided over the closing ceremony of the Somali police officers’ graduates from University level who have been completed the police training on 14th July 2016 at Kahie Police Academy after finished their University Degrees. The new officers will be the largest in number who have been successfully completed their respective University students joining the Police forces. Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister of Internal Security, Abdirizak Omar Mohamed and General Mohamed Sheikh Hassan Hamud said the graduates are part of the ongoing Police reform system throughout the country to adjust the new security trend that Somalia needs at this moment. President Hassan Sheikh has awarded the Second Lieutenant rank to each of the Graduates and also the President has offered the further awards to the newly jointed officers.

SNA armed forces wrap up military training in Kismayo

On 9th July 2016, the President of Jubbaland State Ahmed Madobe has officially concluded training for Jubbaland Presidential Special Guards course conducted by the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM). The new recruits graduated after successfully completing the training course in Kismayo. Speaking at the ceremony, the president of Jubbalnd States Ahmed Mohamed, said “you will safeguard the descriptions of Jubbaland state and it’s the highest distinguishes leaders at state level as you must gratified to tackle your responsibilities according to the law.

The National Security policy poignant high-speed,

The delegation led by deputy PM Mohamed Omar Arte who visited Kismayo on 11th July 2016 in order to move forward to the implementation of the National Security Policy. The delegation have held a different meeting to the Jubbaland State officials and tours Somali National Army bases in Kismayo. Discussions focused on the integration of Somali army and the implementation of the National Security Policy as the policy has been endorsed by Somali National Consultative leaders during their meeting in Baidoa 24th June 2016. The committee has agreed the working format and sustaining the Marine forces and Somali Coast guards both federal and state levels accordingly.

The Somali Marine and Coast guards law reviewed,

On 10th July 2016, the Somali Deputy PM Mohamed Omar Arte has chaired the consultation on The Somali Marine and Coast Guards law review. The consultation was also attended by the institute of the agency of The Somali Marine and Coastal guards and the Minister of ports Authority and marine transport Nur Farah Hersi and assistant minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Ali Kediye. The aim was to be reframed the previous law on its last legs in Somali coastal line from 1959 to 1988. The deputy PM has also talked about that this law consist of safeguarding natural resources in Somali sea waters, the shielding and fritter away discarding from the coastal lines. As planed worldwide oceans trade should be doubled in the year of 2030 and Somalia willing to profit that prospect. Finally, Mr Arte recalls that the Somali Government is willing to support both the global law on marine regulating system and the ongoing revising of the Somali coastal guards and marine resources law.

Somali National Army squalled the Al-Shaabab base Goobaanle

On 9th July 2016, The Danab Commandos brigade of SNA have attacked the Al-Shabab group base in Goobaanle neighborhood in Lower Shabelle region during military operation launched On night of 9th July 2016 and morning on 10th July 2016, after blasting their way into the compound and squalls, a Somali military official told local media. SNA who are currently fighting the terrorists to counter-attack operation is still ongoing some part of the southern Somalia while using a military tactics. The Somali National Army SNA was overrun and full controlled the Al-shabab base. Th Goobaanle base was a regrouping camp with main army catchment and storage of ammunitions to destabilizes.

Government launched the informal education Program

The Somali ministry of Education has launched the informal education Program on 13th July 216 for the eradication of illiteracy through the teachings of Somali Scripting. The aim is to provide adults an opportunity to study as the ministry plans to re-open adult education classes. Most of people didn’t have opportunity to go to school during the civil war. The minister of Education of Somali Federal Government Mr Abdulkadir Abdi Hashi stated that the initial stage of the program will embark on in 400 persons mainly women. The Minister renowned that efforts were evaluated and program elements revised as the similarly with Somalia’s Rural Literacy Campaign that was launched 1970s throughout Somalia. During that time what was unusual was that many of the teachers were schoolchildren – sent into the countryside to teach adults. The campaign will set up in Mogadishu but will comprehensively reach out to the entire regions of Somalia.

The Development projects implemented in Waljirow

On 09th July 2016 the multipurpose colorful ceremony took place at Warjirow Primary/intermediate school at Balad District of Middle Shabelle Region of Somalia. The projects launched included the laying down of the foundation stone of the new health centre, opening of a water Well drilling and inauguration of an Academic school year of 2016-2017. The observance attendees included members of Somali Parliament, Traditional leaders and district officials. Honorable Kassim Ali Nuur, Hon. Hassan Moalin, Hon. Halimo Hassan Omar, Ugaas Mohamud Ali Ugaas, Malaq of Hamar and Hamardaye Malaaq Ali Malaaq Mohamed Wehliye, Balad District Commissioner Mohamed Ahmed Mohamud Saney and other officials were among attendees. The SAAD ORGANIZATION has donated an educational equipments to uphold an educational facilities of the school while other instrument was propelled by the businessman named Giirey as other apparatus were also supplied by the SAAD ORGANIZATION (URURKA SAAD).

A new Tiirow Hospital opened in Baiboa.

A exceptionally colorful event was held at Baidoa town on 9th of July 2016 to open Tiiraw Hospital in attendance by the officials from both regional and district level of Baidoa, the Director of Ministry of health of south west state administrations, intellectuals, Baidao University Authorities, medical Doctors and other distinguished guests. The director of the new Hospital Mr Ishaq Mohamed Tiirow and one of the Doctors who will operate the hospital have presented their plans, as the hospital expects to change the current health situation by enhancing health facility role in infection prevention and patient care. Other speakers have acknowledged the importance of the new hospital’s facility and welcomed such initiate that can be a beneficial to the community and exposed sympathy in such kind of health sustainable project.
